Last Updated: January 22, 2026
At DearBookmark, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website ("Site") and our Chrome Extension ("Extension").
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide to Us
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address and an encrypted version of your password.
- Bookmark Data: We store the Title, URL, Description, and any tags or categorization you assign to the bookmarks you save.
- Extension Data: When you use our Chrome Extension to save a bookmark, we collect the URL and Title of the active tab. We may also capture a screenshot of the visible tab to generate a thumbnail preview for your personal dashboard.
Information Collected Automatically
- Logs and Analytics: Like most websites, we may collect standard server logs including your IP address, browser type, and access times for security and debugging purposes.
- Cookies: We use cookies and local storage tokens to maintain your authenticated session.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data strictly for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the DearBookmark service.
- To allow you to organize, search, and retrieve your saved bookmarks.
- To authenticate your identity when you log in via the Site or the Extension.
- To generate visual previews (thumbnails) of the websites you save.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your browsing history or bookmark data with third-party advertisers.
We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We may use third-party hosting or database providers to run our infrastructure. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Compliance: If required by law, subpoena, or other legal process.
4. Chrome Extension Specifics
Our Chrome Extension requires specific permissions to function:
- activeTab: Used solely to read the URL and Title of the page you are currently engaging with to help you save it.
- storage: Used to save your login token locally on your device so you stay logged in.
The extension does NOT track your browsing history across the web. It only interacts with the specific page you choose to save.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete individual bookmarks or your entire account at any time through the application settings.
6. Contact Us
